A message from the Deputy Director, Eleanor Davidson….
I am delighted that you have chosen to work with Bright Futures Teaching School Hub as your Appropriate Body for statutory ECT induction. My role as Deputy Director and Induction Lead is to ensure the effective monitoring and support of the statutory induction process, the main hub of which is your school.
As well as upholding Bright Futures vision of ‘the best for everyone, the best from everyone‘, my duty is to also ensure that all ECTs are receiving their statutory entitlements and at the end of statutory induction, it will be my pleasure to confirm the recommendation of headteachers/principals that ECTs have consolidated their Initial Teacher Training and passed this formal assessment process which as you should be aware is a one-time only process that cannot be retaken and is now carried out over 2-years (FTE for part-time ECTs).
The formal assessment process under statutory induction must not be confused with the Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ETCE) Training which is not and must not be used as an assessment framework.
The information and guidance in this section of our website summarises some of the key aspects of statutory ECT induction and gives you signposts to further information and support which we hope you find useful including, if early engagement with ECTs will be possible before they start induction with you, some things you may wish to consider when planning for the first few days of statutory induction.
In addition to the guidance in this section of our website, we will be hosting an online briefing for any new induction tutors and headteachers/principals who are new to working with us as the appropriate body. This session will take place on Thursday 29th January 2026 at 3.30pm. If you are reading this guidance, you should have received a zoom link for the briefing via email along with your login details for Mosaic platform.
The online briefing will explain the role of the Appropriate Body within the statutory induction process (not ECTE training), answer any questions you may have and will introduce you to the appropriate body team. We anticipate that this session will be between 30 and 45 minutes in duration and is a repeat of previous sessions so does not require you attend if you have done so previously.
Best wishes
Eleanor Davidson
