Appropriate Body (AB)

Appropriate Bodies (ABs) play an important role in the statutory induction of Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

Through its statutory quality assurance duties as outlined by the DfE, appropriate bodies are required to provide support and monitoring throughout the statutory induction process and are expected to check and ensure that all ECTs are receiving their statutory entitlements.

The guidance linked within this section is intended to summarise the key elements of statutory induction which we hope you will find useful once ECTs are registered with us for statutory induction. Information around statutory registration requirements can be found in our registration guidance. Please note, if an ECT is not registered for statutory induction, they are not under induction and induction cannot be backdated.
